You’ve probably heard by now that Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 have reached their end of life, as far as most users are concerned and especially in the realm of Zelcore.

If you’re still among the 2% of Zelcore users using these operating systems, it’s time to upgrade, embrace the new and ensure you’re getting getting the security and support benefits that you expect from Zelcore.

Let’s discuss , especially if you’re running a self-custodial wallet like Zelcore.

The Realities of Using Windows 7/8/8.1

Zelcore is parting ways with these operating systems because there are several high impact security vulnerabilities in Windows 7 and 8 that won’t be fixed by Microsoft (43 high severity vulnerabilities reported in 2023).

If you don’t upgrade your OS, and try to continue running Zelcore, you’re going to run into a lot of issues that are more than undesirable.

Unsupported OSs like Windows 7/8/8.1 aren’t receiving security updates anymore, leaving you exposed to cyber threats. That’s like leaving your front door unlocked in a sketchy neighborhood.

Software developers have their sights set on newer OSs, which means your favorite apps might start misbehaving on Windows 7/8/8.1. Your wallet app going haywire … not fun.

Microsoft and others have officially retired tech support for these older systems. If you hit a snag, you’ll be venturing into the wild west of online forums and third-party resources for help. Not exactly ideal, right?

Why Self-Custodial Wallet Users Should Take Notice

It’s not just about avoiding slow-downs or glitches… this is serious stuff that could affect the security of your assets.

Running a self-custodial wallet like Zelcore on an outdated OS is playing with fire. Your putting yourself at risk of getting rugged as hackers and scammers find new ways to exploit an old OS.

A vulnerable OS is like an open book for hackers. You definitely don’t want them snooping around your transaction details, private keys, or other sensitive data, do you?

When Zelcore and other wallet providers part ways with Windows 7/8/8.1, you could be left with a less-than-stellar wallet experience.

You’re In Good Hands at Zelcore — Your Own

Zelcore recognizes the importance of keeping up with the times and prioritizing user security. That’s why we’ve made the conscious decision to cease support for Windows 7/8/8.1. By doing so, we’re guiding you toward a more secure platform, ensuring the safety of your bags and the quality of your wallet experience.
